Biography:
After Leeuwin I ended up on the Sydney like all you other poor
unfortunates (Café Duty). Then a short stay at Lonsdale while
waiting for AB’s course at Cerberus to start. Then I drew the
short straw and ended up on the Melbourne, after the Evans accident I
spent a glorious month in Singapore based at the Samba Wang R.N base, my
job there was to make sure that all the Melbourne sailors beds were made
every morning by 10am then I could do anything I wanted, “Shore Leave”
Yippee. My duty nights were served with the Pommy shore patrol
driving around Singapore City checking out the nightlife.
From the Melbourne it was back to Cerberus for shore duty, then off to
the Swan, I was not a happy chappie there, me and the Captain had words
and I ended up on the Anzac minus an anchor on my sleeve, (but I got my
revenge on the idiot who caused all the trouble in the first place).
After paying off the Anzac it was back to Cerberus until October ’76 and
then elective discharge.
Then came the good life as a Truckie until Sept. '03 when I had an
heart problems, after the operation to fix things in the Royal Melbourne
Hospital they sent me home to get better but they forgot to tell me about
the bugs they left in me and 2 weeks later I was DEAD for 40 seconds, 2
weeks in intensive care and 6 weeks of intensive anti biotics and as you
can see I’m still kicking.
I’m in my third marriage, I should have married Patricia the
first time because she is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
