One of the few good
things to come out of pussers for me was going to Cerberus
in ‘68 for chef’s course. I was asked to go on a blind date
, 36 years on and we’re still dating. Sandy and I married in
Jan’71 and have one daughter, Jody, who in turn is married
to a terrific young guy, Charles. They have presented us
with 2 gorgeous grandchildren, Nicholas James, 20 months and
Emma Sylvana who is 5 days old.Left pussers in ‘73 and
bummed around for 2 years trying this, that and everything.
Finally fell into a job in Consumer Credit which I did for 2
years till opting to further the career in Commercial
Credit.
Was with G.E.C. (electrical) for 4 years and finished up
Credit Manager (Victoria) with them.
Then too A.E.Smith & Son (Air Conditioning) as Credit
Manager also in Victoria for further 4 years.
‘83-’90 with Albright & Wilson (Chemical) as National
Credit Manager in which time we transferred back to NSW.
‘90-’98 spent as National Credit Manager, Carter Holt
Harvey-Insulco division (Building). That’s when I finally
woke up that I was making millions for some other a…holes
and getting nothing out of it for me.
Bought my own business in ‘98, V.I.P. Home Maintenance
Franchise which we ran successfully until I was awarded
T.P.I. in Oct’2002. Sold the business and retired then
talked Sandy into retiring in Feb’03
Since then my best mate (Sandy) and I have bought an on
site caravan down the south coast (Gerringong) and we head
down there every second Thursday and return home the
following Monday. We have been baby-sitting Nicky Jim every
Tuesday and Wednesday till just over a week ago and now have
5 months off till Jody goes back to work, at which time we
will baby-sit both Nicky Jim and Emma to enable the kids to
get ahead. We travel as often as we can around this great
country of ours and hope to do an OS trip in about 4-5
years. Since we’ve been retired I don’t know how we found
time to go to work. You just can’t beat it.
